Computer
Graphics Opening
According to IC super guru, Phillip Gertsma, "The computer-generated intro ran for Battles Sweet Potato, Freshwater Shrimp, Kegani Crab and Lotus Root. I believe there were at least two different versions of the c.g. intro. If you check the image of Kaga as he ravages the yellow bell, and its relationship with respect to the surrounding elements in the frame, I believe you will find tangible differences. This opening surfaces several episodes before Michiba's resignation." This is a great opening. The scene begins in a temple where the camera pans by stained glass windows depicting the Iron Chefs, KS, and honored cast. As the camera continually pans, we see a giant statue of Kaga. The statue is perhaps 3 stories tall, with Kaga himself standing at the base. Kaga takes a bite into a pepper. The scene fades into flames and the Ryouri no Tetsujin logo. The opening was pulled after Michiba resigned in 1996. I'm uncertain who originally captured this clip, but it was initially named temple, and is aka. as temple.mov. Interestingly, this clip came from the days when IC was subtitled on TV. The file is huge. You'll need Winzip to unzip the file and Quicktime 3 or 4 to view it. Stats:
Quicktime / 320x240 / 102 seconds / 18.5 megs

| Carefull
inspection of video shows that the IC's rarely rise in front of a live
audience. Typically when an IC is summoned, the camera quickly cuts
to stock footage.
In the King of Tetsujin tournament, the Iron Chefs rise in front of a live audience. Some of the IC's received new music. The combination of new sounds, cheering, applause, and premise for the show made for extremely energetic and exciting rises. |
