2nd Battle
pit Morimoto vs. Sakai. Coming into the matchup, Morimoto is clearly
the underdog. Sakai is the strongest and has the highest win to loss
ratio. Does speculation lead to truth? Only judgement will
decide.
Despite the cooking, I believe the highlights of the show are the theatrics and there were plenty of them. The battle was not nearly as hyped and intense as the Kobe vs. Chin matchup. |
| Strongest Tetsujin Tournament: 2nd Battle
Isn't it cool when the Japanese plaster Kanji over everything? A bit Hideaki Anno-ish eh? |

| Sakai shakes with Morimoto before the confront. Interestingly, the chefs rose on the platforms live (just as did in 1st Battle). Each chef had a different music play whe they rose while the audience applauded with much enthusiasm. The music was soooo galiant and triumphant, it was very exciting indeed. I've got cool video clips coming soon.. as soon I find enough web space. |

| Now this an interesting ingridient. The
source of our humor is now the theme ingredient. The Japanese call,
piment.
we call them bell pepers. Quite frankly I believe they should use this
ingredient for Final
Battle, how funny that would have been! |

| Sakai found great humor in this let out a big laugh. Morimoto stayed stern and was not humoured. I think he was rather worried. ICR said, "... this favors Sakai. Piment is not a favorite material of Japanese cuisine." |

| Hey it's crazy Morimoto. He finally snapped at Ohta Tadamichi and went nuts.. he attacked 12 members of the Party of Heaven and Earth and a poor octupus in his way. |
![]() ICR's depiction as follows: Morimoto said today, he focus on his origin, which he describes as"nothingness". No executive chef of Nobu, no Iron Chef, just nothing. This is buddhism state of selflessness. It takes him to start from there to defeat Sakai. No, winning does not matter at this point. He must do what he does. |
| Kaga's pepper fetish never let's off, does it?
Staring intensely at the pepper as he says,
watashi no kioku ga tashika naraba... |

| Finally the match begins.. only for the camera to pan over to the stands to show Morimoto's wife, Keiko. Members of Nobu Tokyo are to the left of her. |

| Here we see Sakai performing a Japanese technique called, hone kiri (cuttnimg the meat at an angle to it's spine) on some hamo (pike eel). This was key technique seen in Battle Hamo a few weeks back. |

| Morimoto made sushi with marinated piment. Looks like a very red maguro. |

| The fruits of Sakai's hone kiri. Piment royale with hamo. |

| You can see the innovative sushi morimoto made with piment. |

| Wow! An elated Sakai received a perfect score of 100. Total domination. Morimoto performed strongly but not strong enough. This shows how strong Sakai is. Sakai is definately the favorite going into the next match against Chin. |
