3.  First Battle

All four chefs compete in the first battle with a time limit of 1 hour.  Each chef recieved one assistant.  The two chefs with the highest scores advance to the 2nd battle.

With the opening Allez cuisine, the chef gather the ingredients.
Here's a great view of the KS in a two level configuration.  We see Shanghai above and Beijing below.  The other side of the stadium has Canton on top and Sichuan below.
Shanghai begins with some drum sticks.
Uh oh... some frogs have escaped and are roaming around.
And also an eel!  It's a shame that no one would use any of the live ingredients (chicken, frog, eel, snake) this round.
Shanghai representative spreads some kind of paste onto a plate and smooths it witha broad knife.
Beijing representative, Son Li Hei has orange juice, stock, green onions and chicken in a pot.
Canton representive got very little screen time, but here's a shot of his decorations he prepared.
Chin starts slicing watermelon, causing much enthusiasm in the commentators box.
Chin puts chicken feet into a bowl of water.
Beijing rep, wraps mango in a chicken sheet.

Earlier he pureed chicken and steamed it into a sheetlike form.
